George Ainley
George makes some of the finest Windsor chairs and benches available. Using a variety of woods, as did the original Windsor makers, George hand-carves the seats out of pine, spindles of oak or hickory, bends oak for the back frame and turns maple for the legs and supporting structure. Since the woods vary in hue, he then paints the piece , first with red and then covers it with black. As the pieces develop a patina, the red starts to show through on the edges. Pretty special.
